New Chinese offshore terminal in Bohai Bay to receive its first tanker calls

A new Chinese offshore oil terminal is set to receive its first tanker calls. The facility, in Bohai Bay, can now come on-stream after production from the Bozhong 28-2S field facilities began.
The China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) is using a FPSO (floating production storage and offloading vessel) to process the crude and load it onto tankers, Lloyd's List reported.
The state-run company has installed a central platform on the BZ 28-2S field and will drill up to 49 wells using jack-up rigs.
Crude production and tanker loadings are slated to carry on through at least the next 20 years.
The first tanker loading is due in April to start moving crude to regional terminals and refineries.
Bohai Bay has been described as China’s main offshore oil production region and is the centre of CNOOC’s main investments over the next decade.
Government officials are reportedly determined to develop more Chinese offshore oil fields to reduce the volume of crude imports into the nation.
