A separate educational institution – the Maritime Academy - has been set up within the framework of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. This was announced by Sergey Baryshnikov, Rector of the University, at the international transport-logistic exhibition CITL in Paris, IAA PortNews journalist reports.
The Academy will provide cadets with education on all operational specializations.
“We continue reorganization of our institution. The Maritime Academy has been established within the University. It will be headed by Nikolai Alekseyev. This decision was taken in late February, at the first meeting of the joint academic council,” explained the University Rector.
Baryshnikov did not rule out the possibility of further work on setting up other institutions.
“Water transport institute may become the next step. This is an operating name so far,” he added.
We remind that on September 11, 2012, Maxim Sokolov, RF Transport Minister of the Russian Federation, signed a decree on reorganization of two large industry-focused higher educational institutions - St.-Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications (SPSUWC) and Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy (SMA) in the form of affiliation of the Academy to the University. The name of the new institution is the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping.
