Brazil's Petrobras workers continue five-day strike

Bunkering at Brazil's main ports has been going ahead despite a strike by Petrobras workers, local sources told Bunkerworld on Wednesday.
Tens of thousands of Brazilian oil workers launched a five-day strike on Monday, to protest safety conditions and what they say are inadequate profit sharing and pay for holidays and overtime.
"All company units are operating normally, and production and employee security have not been affected by the movement," Petrobras said in a statement today.
Under Brazilian law, workers cannot paralyse Petrobras operations, according to Bloomberg.
They must leave skeleton maintenance crews in place on oil platforms, refineries and other potentially dangerous installations.
The strike, which has added concerns of further price hikes on the international market, poses no risk of fuel shortages, according to Luiz Dulci, Chief Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil.
Bunkerworld data showed Santos prices for 380 centistoke (cst) material fell by $5 to $268.50 per metric tonne (pmt) on Wednesday, and Marine Gasoil (MGO) was up by $25.00 to $506.50 pmt.
Prices for 380 centistoke (cst) material at Paranagua dropped by $4.50 to $268.00, with MGO up by $25.00 to $511.50.
Negotiations were being resumed on Wednesday "and the expectation is that the strike will be terminated," Petrobras stated.
