Maersk shifts AE1 service

Maersk Line plans to change the port rotation of its Asia-Europe Service (AE1), effective in May. The Danish carrier will introduce a westbound call at Felixstowe before Rotterdam and drop the existing calls at Le Havre and Southampton.
“Le Havre will be covered on another AE service, and alternative coverage is being planned for Southampton but only for limited merchant haulage volumes,” the carrier stated in an announcement.
The revised westbound port coverage will be Kobe, Nagoya, Shimizu, Yokohama, Nansha, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Salalah, Nansha, Da Chan Bay, Ningbo, Shanghai, and Kaohsiung.
Maersk said the revised rotation will help consolidate its U.K. inland haulage network to and from Felixstowe, facilitating more efficient intermodal services.
The first vessel in the new schedule will be the Sine Maersk, expected to depart from Yokohama on May 5.
