In the immediate future, it is looking at running a direct train to Nagpur, to supply food grains to western and central India.
"At present, these areas are, naturally, supplied by imports through Mumbai," said CCTL MD Ennarasu Karunesan. But, the company feels it can offer competitive pricing to importers in the western region, though Karunesan remained non-committal on the exact import and freight potential to west India.
CCTL currently has direct rail connectivity to Bangalore, and is connected by road to the north and east. DP world has a seven percent market share in the rail freight segment in India.
