Ten Swedish helicopters are currently being shipped from the Port of Gothenburg to the Port of Tacoma on the west coast of the USA. The helicopters belong to American company Columbia Helicopters, which recently purchased them from the Swedish armed forces, the Port Authority news release said.
“We chose to ship the helicopters via the Port of Gothenburg for reasons of geographic location,” says Dan Sweet, Public Relations Manager at Columbia Helicopters.
In February US helicopter operator Columbia Helicopters announced that it had purchased ten helicopters from the Swedish military. They are currently being transported from the F17 Air Wing in Blekinge in southern Sweden to the company’s facility in Portland, Oregon. The shipment goes via Logent Ports & Terminals in the Port of Gothenburg.
“The Port of Gothenburg is just a few hours’ away from the air base where the aircraft have been stored. This allied to the terminal’s excellent capacity and good service meant that we chose them for shipping the helicopters over to us,” says Dan Sweet, Public Relations Manager at Columbia Helicopters.
