The volume of cargo transportation by inland water ways of the Russian Federation is forecasted to stay at the level of 2012 this year, Victor Vovk, deputy head of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency, said at the press conference “Opening of 2013 navigation at Russian IWW".
«We foresee that the volume of cargo transportation in 2013 will not be below the level of 2012», - Vovk said.
He also noted that «the structure of cargo flows and volumes may change per basins».
«As for the water content, Tsimlyanskoye water reservoir is forecasted to contain 45% of normal volume after the spring flood in the Southern region. The Azov-Don Basin is forecasted to have the water content similar to that of 2011 when it was not very good. In this respect, the basin administration is preparing a number of measures to support the existing parameters», Vovk added.
In 2012, inland water ways of the Russian Federation transported 139.9 mln t of cargo (+11.5%, year-on-year).
