In January-February, 2009, stevedoring organizations of the Leningrad region operating within the water area of the Gulf of Finland, handled 16.6 million tonnes of cargo (+4%, year-on-year), information department of the Leningrad region government reports.
The major part of cargo was handled by the port of Primorsk, which exported 12.6 million tonnes of oil products (105% against Jan-Feb 08).
The port of Ust-Luga increased its throughput by 21.3% to 1.2 million tonnes including over 1 million tonnes of coal (+22.3%, year-on-year) and 40,300 tonnes of timber. In the reported period, automobile-ferry complex carried 91,300 tonnes of general cargo (up 3.9 times). Universal transshipment complex handled 46,600 tonnes of metal (up 6.4 times), multipurpose transshipment complex – over 5,000 tonnes of ro-ro cargo. Port Vysotsk handled over 2.6 million tonnes of cargo. Port Vyborg increased its throughput by 26.5% to 177,500 tonnes.
