Port of Gdansk (Poland) increases throughput 1.5 times to 7.608 mln t in QI'13

In January-March, 2013, the Port of Gdansk increased its throughput almost 1.5 times, year-on-year, to 7,608,327 tonnes, the Port Authority states.

In the reported period, transshipment of grain grew by 29.6% to 267,818 tonnes, packaged cargo and timber – up 1.4 times to 2,624,272 tonnes, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – fell by 60% to 474,234 tonnes, coal handling surged 3.6 times – to 1,176,975 tonnes, transshipment of liquid fuel doubled to 3,065,028 tonnes. 

The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines).
