Dmitry Medvedev signs order on expansion of Sochi seaport
Chairman of RF Government Dmitry Medvedev has signed an order on expansion of Sochi seaport, the government press center informs. The document is available here >>>> (PDF file).
The document has been elaborated by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation in compliance with Article No 6 of the Federal Law On seaports of the Russian Federation and on introduction of amendments into certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation and on the basis of RF land-use planning scheme in the sphere of federal transport development approved by the government order No 384-p of March 19, 2013.
According to the clause 55 of the Programme on construction of Olympic facilities and development of Sochi as a mountain climate resort approved by the decree of RF Government No 991 of December 29, 2007, seaport of Sochi is being reconstructed with the purpose to create an international center of passenger and cruise transportation. Upon completion of the reconstruction the port will be able to provide round-the-year handling of foreign cruise liners of up to 311 meters in length and up to 3,000 passengers in capacity as well as ferries. Annual passenger turnover is to make 315,000 people.
Besides, clauses 551 and 552 of the mentioned Programme provide for the construction of facilities of border ships base.
The port reconstruction implies the creation of artificial plots of land for the construction of passenger terminal building and checkpoints for border, customs and other types of control as well as other port infrastructure facilities.
The document charges the RF Ministry of Transport with submitting a draft decision on changing the port borders within 6 months. This term is stipulated by the Article 30 of the Law On artificial land plots created at state-owned water bodies and on introduction of amendments into certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation, according to which cadastral registration of an artificial land plot is possible only after an approval is obtained to put it into operation, the statement reads.
The completion of the project implementation is scheduled for quarter IV of 2013.
It is a unique project on the Black Sea coast and it will be the first large project on creation of a center of passenger and cruise transportation facilitating the development of maritime tourism at the Black Sea coast of the Russian Federation, the statement reads.
