In January-March, 2013, Tuapse Commercial Sea Port OJSC handled 3.4 mln t of cargo (-23%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says in its press release.
The decline should be attributed to a 21-pct decrease of oil cargo transshipment to 2.2 mln t caused by a redistribution of crude oil export flows and reconstruction being held at the Tuapse oil refinery.
Besides, transshipment of dry cargo fell by 25% to 1.2 mln t due to unfavorable situation at grain and coal export markets. In particular, grain transshipment fell by 83% to 79,000 tonnes, coal – by 7% to 700,000 tonnes. However, export of ferrous metal climbed by 33% to 400,000 tonnes.
Total volume of export cargo making the core of TCSP cargo flow made 3.38 mln t (-23%).
Transshipment of import cargo amounted to 64,000 tonnes (+189.2%) including 42,300 tonnes of raw sugar and 21,700 tonnes of vegetable cargo.
In January-March 2013, the port handled 163 cargo vessels (81 dry cargo carriers and 82 oil carriers) and 19,000 rail cars.
