Nordana is very pleased to announce that the next generation of Multipurpose RoRo vessels is now taking shape, and an order has been placed with Italian yard Visentini for the delivery of the vessel in May 2014. This order kicks off Nordana’s tonnage renewal program for its RoRo Mediterranean / Americas service, and it is expected that the fleet can be fully replaced by the end of 2014, where after it will operate with 3 x fully modern and very Eco friendly RoRo vessels, the shipping company's press release said.
The ship design has been developed by the Visentini yard and Naos ship design in a close and constructive co-operation with Nordana. The vessel hull design and machinery is setting new standards for fuel economy and of course includes latest proven achievements to be applied to limit Sulphur Oxides, Nitrogen Oxides, Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, Performance Standard for Protective Coating, Ballast Water Treatment and more.
The vessel will increase the capacity about 35% compared to present tonnage, and the higher service speeds will allow the service to improve with faster transit times to all the main ports serviced, while reducing fuel costs due to higher engine efficiency. The vessels new name shall not be known until the official christening, however it’s safe to say that it will be a ‘-borg’ name, following in the proud naming traditions of all the vessels within the Nordana & Dannebrog Group.
The new vessel will have below main specifications:

Deadweight 11060 wtons
