Four new sea survival ETCs to be opened in 2013 - Russian Maritime Security Service (photo)

Four new education and training centers for sea survival will be opened in 2013, Mikhail Malyshev, deputy head of Russian Maritime Security Service, said at the international maritime seminar “Sea survival – training standards” which opened today, April 22, in St. Petersburg, the event’s organization committee reports.

Mikhail Malyshev told that there are 44 sea survival ETCs in Russia including 40 shore-based centers and 4 education and training vessels. 11 centers operate under Rosmorrechflot and 6 – under Rosrybolovstvo. There are 17 state and 27 non-state centers. 

The seminar was arranged by the International Association for Safety and Survival Training (IASST) and the Marine education and training center of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. 

The event is attended by over 90 specialists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Island, Canada, Australia, Norway, Malaysia, Nigeria, Romania, Great Britain, France, Japan and other countries.
