Krasnoye Sormovo launches tenth vessel of project RST27 built for V.F.Tanker
On April 23, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard launched the tenth vessel of project RST27 built for shipping company V.F.Tanker (VBTH holding, the majority stakeholder of which is UCL Holding, international transportation group consolidating a number of Russian shipping stevedoring and shipbuilding companies). The vessel is named Konstruktor Zhivotovsky, IAA PortNews learnt from Leonid Aver, press secretary of UCL Holding.
As it was reported earlier, nine vessels of the series were built by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard and delivered to the customer in 2012.
The lead ship of the series, V.F.Tanker-1 is in the list of Significant Ships of 2012 of RINA - Royal Institution of Naval Architects. The project was developed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (Odessa, Ukraine). Detailed engineering was carried out by Volga-Caspian Design Bureau (Nizhni Novgorod).
The vessels of this project have a river deadweight increased by 730 tonnes as compared with other vessels of the same type deployed for operation in the Volga-Don Basin. During the internavigational period they are successfully operated in the Black and Mediterranean Seas.
The Konstruktor Zhivotovsky tanker, unlike other vessels of the series, has a “chemical carrier type 2” class. It is equipped for transportation of vegetable oils which contributes to its competitiveness in the tanker market.
It can simultaneously transport two types of cargo. Operating ability: round-the-year navigation in ice-free seas, in loose brash ice of non-Arctic seas (independent navigation in 0.40-meter thick loose brash ice with the speed of 5 knots; following the icebreaker along the canal made in 0.35-thick ice with the speed of 3 knots); operation in the conditions of extended navigation period corresponding to ice-class 1 with the outside temperature of 20°С.
Major characteristics: sea deadweight - 6,980 tonnes with the draught of 4.2 m, river deadweight - 5,378 tonnes with the draught of 3.6 m, length – 140.85 m, breadth – 16.86 m, depth – 6.0 m, crew - 12/14, speed - 10 knots, endurance - 20/12. The propulsion system comprises two diesel engines WARTSILA 6L20 with maximum continuous rating of 1,200 kWt. The tanker has an additional sign in the symbol of Eco Project class.
Krasnoye Sormovo OJSC is one of Russia's oldest shipyards. It was founded in 1849. In 2011, it entered the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The shipyard is Russia’s leader in construction of civil river and sea-and-river going vessels.
Volga-Balt-Tanker (part of VBTH holding, the majority stakeholder of which is Universal Cargo Logistics Holding, international transportation group consolidating a number of Russian shipping stevedoring and shipbuilding companies) was set up in 2001 with participation of Volga Shipping Company OJSC. It provides inland water transportation of oil product. Volga-Balt-Tanker owns over 40 vessels with total tonnage exceeding 170,000 tonnes. Major route is from the plants of the Belaya and Kama rivers to St. Petersburg and further by sea-going vessels to the ports of destination.
