Throughput of Chinese ports up 9.4% to 3.38 bln tones in Jan-Apr’13
In January-April, 2013, Chinese ports handled 3.38 bln tones of cargo (+9.4%, year-on-year). According to the Transport Ministry of China, throughput of the country’s seaports climbed by 9.4% to 2.35 bln tones, river ports – up 9.5% to 1.03 bln tonnes.
Container throughput was up 8.4% to 589.6 mln TEUs including 526.7 mln TEUs in seaports (+8.1%) and 62.8 mln TEUs in river ports (+10.5%).
In 2012, throughput of Chinese port increased by 6.8%, year-on-year, to 9.74 bln t.
