Throughput of Big Port St. Petersburg down 2% to 17.4 mln t in Jan-Apr’13
In January-April, 2013, Big Port St. Petersburg handled 17.4 mln t of cargo (-2%, year-on-year), says press center of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
Big Port St. Petersburg is the largest seaport in Russia’s North West. It is located on the islands of the Neva mouth on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. 27-mile long Sea Canal links the port with the sea. The water area of port Saint-Petersburg is about 628.6 square kilometers. The port comprises some 200 berths with total berthing line of 31 kilometers. In 2012, throughput of Big Port St. Petersburg fell by 3.6% to 57.8 mln t, Association of Commercial Sea Ports says.
