Vladimir Shmakov – new head of United Shipbuilding Corporation
Vladimir Shmakov, first deputy to Director General of Uralvagonzavod, has been appointed the head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation OJSC. According to Kremlin press center, Vladimir Putin announced this when opening the meeting on the current state and development prospects of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
“He has extensive experience in the defence complex and in the metals industry. I am confident that he will be able to make use of his skills and knowledge, above all in management and economics,” Vladimir Putin said.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, OSK consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
