Equipment for Yamal-based LNG plant will be delivered via Russia’s northern ports - NOVATEK
Technological equipment for the LNG plant within the framework of Yamal LNG project is expected to be delivered via the northern ports of Russia with further transportation to the construction site, IAA PortNews learnt from press center of NOVATEK (project co-investor). The construction cargoes are being delivered to the South-Tambeyskoye field by two routes: from Russia’s northern ports all year round (in winter they use specially reinforced ice-class vessels with icebreaking assistance), and by Ob river.
As NOVATEK head Leonid Mikhelson said in his interview to TV-channel Russia 24, the shipping company is to be chosen within about four months.
Yamal LNG project envisages the construction of an LNG plant with annual capacity of 16.5 million tons per annum based on the feedstock resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field. According to the PRMS reserve standards, the proven and probable reserves of the South-Tambeyskoye field as of 31 December 2012 were appraised at 907 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The Project also requires the construction of transport infrastructure including a sea-port and an airport located at Sabetta (north-east of the Yamal Peninsula). Yamal LNG is currently owned by NOVATEK (80%) and TOTAL (20%).
