South Korea's Hyundai to launch car plant in Petersburg in 2010
South Korean auto giant Hyundai will start production at a new car plant in St. Petersburg in September 2010, the plant's general contractor said on Thursday according to RIA Novosti.
"The plant will be commissioned in September 2010. In August this year, the installment of equipment will begin," Li Chang Zhou, general director of Amco Rus, said at a meeting with the governor of St. Petersburg on Thursday.
Li said that the installment of equipment would be completed in April next year and a test run of the assembly line was planned for May.
Hyundai started construction of the car plant in June 2008. Investment in the facility, which is intended to produce 100,000 cars a year, is estimated at $429 million.
