On 29 July the container feeder service Femex1 of the French shipping company CMA CGM called for the first time at Zeebrugge. The m/s Santa Bettina (2,824 teu) unloaded and loaded at Container Handling Zeebrugge. It is a weekly service, said in the company's press release.
Port of Zeebrugge constitutes an important hub for the deepsea container services of CMA CGM which link up Zeebrugge several times a week with the Middle and the Far East.
With the Femex1 Port of Zeebrugge is now connected to the Mediterranean, in particular with the Turkish markets. The container service calls at Ambarli, Haydarpasa, Gebze and Aliaga. Also Thessaloniki, Malta, Tanger and Casablanca are called at.
"CMA CGM already feeders from Zeebrugge containers to Scandinavia, the Baltic region and the United Kingdom. With the Femex1 the role of Zeebrugge as container hub for CMA CGM is strengthened", states Joachim Coens, CEO of Port of Zeebrugge.
