In January-July 2013, Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port OJSC handled 2,507,900 tonnes of cargo (+36%, year-on-year), the company says. In July, the port handled 322,400 tonnes of cargo (+48.2%).
In the 7-month period, transshipment of export cargo increased by 18.4% to 1,515,200 tonnes including 1,055,800 tonnes of general cargo (+19.5%). Export of ferrous metal climbed by 15.7% to 814,400 tonnes, coal and coke – up 2.2 times to 154,100 tonnes. Export of containerized cargo dropped by 32.9% to 42,800 tonnes.
Transshipment of import cargo surged by 76.8% to 987,100 tonnes including 667,200 tonnes of dry bulk cargo (up 4.2 times), 36,500 tonnes of general cargo (-3.4%) and 257,800 tonnes of containerized cargo (-22.3%).
Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port JSC is the largest enterprise of the regional port complex. Practically all means of transport and the basic part of the export-import freight traffic passing through the region, close in the port. In 2012, the port’s throughput fell by 3.31%, year-on-year, to 3.31 mln tonnes.
