Throughput of port Ventspils (Latvia) down 4.1% to 18.6 mln t in Jan-July’13

In January-July 2013,  Free Port of Ventspils handled  18.6 mln t of cargo (-4.1%, year-on-year), the port authority says. In July, the port handled 2.2 mln t.

Five of 10 terminals if the port demonstrated the throughput growth in the 7-month period. Ventbunkers terminal – by 49%, Ventspils Commercial Port  - by 3%, Ventamonjaks serviss – by 3%, Ventall Termināls – by 6%, Ventplac – by 3%. At the same time, throughput of Ventspils Nafta termināls declined by 12%, Kālija parks – by 46% Baltic Coal Terminal – by 5%, Ventspils Grain Terminal – by 41%, Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals – by 3%.

Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 7% to 30.4 mln tonnes.
