Throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport up 10.9% to 9.87 mln t in Jan-July’13

In January-July 2013, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 9,870,000 tonnes of cargo (+10.9%, year-on-year), the company’s statistics says. In July, the port handled 1,457,400 tonnes (+31.9%).

In July the port serviced 42 vessels including 15 vessels with coal (against 41 vessels including 11 vessels with coal handled in July 2012) and 19,956 wagons including 16,210 wagons with coal (against 16,338 wagons including 12,757 wagons with coal handled in July 2012).

The share of dry bulk cargo increased by 383,000 t (+38.6%), the share of general cargo decreased by 30,000 t (-26.3%). The growth was achieved owing to increased transshipment of coal and apatite concentrate, while the decrease was caused by reduced handling of import and coastal trade cargo, the statement reads.

In the reported period, Agrosfera CJSC handled 57,860 t of fertilizers, Murmansk Bulk Terminal LLC - 148,620 t of dry bulk cargo. 

Consolidated throughput of three stevedoring companies of Murmansk Commercial Seaport hit 1,663,830 tonnes.

In 2013, Murmansk Commercial Seaport plans to handle 16.34 mln t of cargo (+4.1%, year-on-year).

Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draught and over 265 meters in length. In 2012, the company handled 15.69 mln t of cargo.
