Ship-Church “Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called” has set sail for a missionary voyage around the Novosibirsk region, press center of the regional government says.
The ceremony was attended by Victor Kozodoi, Deputy Governor of Novosibirsk region, and Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berdsk Tikhon.
“It is the 17th traditional voyage of the ship-church. This points to the fact of demand for our charitable activity in the region, - said Victor Kozodoi, Deputy Governor of Novosibirsk region, — The ship will visit about 50 settlements. Hundreds of local residents in remote villages will be able to consult a doctor, get social advice, speak to a priest.”
The charity expedition of the ship-church “Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called” is a joint project of the Novosibirsk Region Government and the Russian Orthodox Church. This year the voyage will last from August 15 till August 31. Its major purpose is to provide the residents of remote villages with religious, medical and social assistance.
