Krasnaya Kuznitsa shipyard (Arkhangelsk) to launch new production by year end

Krasnaya Kuznitsa shipyard will launch new production by year end. According to the press center of Arkhangelsk Mayor's office, the first production block will comprise the new workshop for production and repair of rudder propeller units for ice class vessels of any displacement.

The workshop’s major mechanism will be a 600-tonne unit for precision machining of screws. The equipment has already been delivered to the site and is being prepared for installation. The next phase of reconstruction is to fix the line for assembling of hull structures with application of laser technologies. The equipment has been designed in Germany. According to Nikolay Vaskov, Director General of Krasnaya Kuznitsa, it will be the first production line of this class in Russian shipbuilding industry.

In January 2011, 176th ship repair yard (branch of Zvezdochka shipyard) acquired 129 industrial facilities located in the territory of Krasnaya Kuznitsa. The newly created production complex has preserved its historic name. Within the framework of the Russia’s shipbuilding programme, over RUB 10 bln will be invested into the modernization of Krasnaya Kuznitsa in 2014-2019. 176th ship repair yard will combine different workshops and production facilities under one roof. There will be built a new 150-meter long berth, a covered slip and a 130 m х 30 m floating dockage facility for vessels with displacement of up to 15,000 t. It will let the shipyard repair all the vessels of the Northern Shipping Company and Murmansk Shipping Company as well as the fleet of icebreakers. Besides, a separate facility will be built for construction of warships.

Apart from the workshop for production of rudder propeller units and the line for assembling of hull structures, the civil segment of Krasnaya Kuznitsa will be expanded with the construction of a new slip and a workshop for overhaul of vessels. Besides, there will be a marine test facility comprising a special vessel and an onshore hydraulic facility to test units manufactured by the shipyard in arctic conditions.
