SWS starts design of first built PSV projects

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (SWS) Design & Research Institute and DNV on August 14 jointly held the kick off meeting of H1340 and H1341, which indicated the design of the first built PSV projects has been comprehensively started, the Chinese shipbuilder said in a media release.

The Deputy Director of Design Dept. No.2 and the Project Design Manager, Mr. Zhang Xiaokai and the relevant personnel attended this meeting. The design emphasis and difficulties of the whole vessel, the requirements on the certifications of the whole vessel equipment and the business process of both parties were discussed in the meeting. Both sides expressed that it is the first cooperation in offshore. Both of them will assign elite personnel to build a first-class PSV and create an excellent example of cooperation by adopting efficient management and making great efforts jointly.

The Owner of PSV (H1340, H1341) is from Singapore Pacific Radiance. The basic design of PSV is by Ulstein Group, Norway and its detailed and production design is by SWS Design &Research Institute. The building contract of PSV was signed on May 18, the design contract was signed on June 11. The project kick off meeting was held on June 18. During the labor skill competition which was held from July 4th to Aug.4, the technology negotiation of major equipments had mostly completed. There were 25 sets of drawing of basic design had been submitted. Review of 8 equipments had been returned. The total 2200-ton steel plates had been ordered on Aug.15. So far, all the design work are being pushed forward orderly.

(SCS). Since 2005, SWS has been ranking the top for consecutive 8 years in terms of both shipbuilding output and economic efficiency in Chinese shipbuilding industry. In 2011, with delivery of 36 vessels, SWS became the first shipyard in China whose annual shipbuilding capacity is over 8 million DWT, and was crowned as "No. 1 Shipbuilding Company in China".
