Transportation Group FESCO has commissioned into service the M/V FESCO Pevek, which in March 2013 joined the company's fleet, the Company said in a press release.
Following the acquisition the vessel had passed scheduled maintenance and now commences operation on the FESCO’s short sea service Vladivostok - Magadan.
The M/V FESCO Pevek is a multipurpose vessel capable of carrying both general and bulk cargo and containers. The ship is equipped with two electro-hydraulic cranes of lifting capacity of 50 tonnes each.
The company said that it upgrades its fleet with more fuel-efficient vessels.
"Fuel consumption on FESCO Pevek is 38% less than that of other vessels operating on the line, which will help cut significantly our fuel costs. The onboard ship cranes provide the opportunity to offload cargo at offshore anchorage", the FESCO's press release said.
The M/V FESCO Pevek has ice class and she is able to operate in the winter / spring season. That will ensure year-round operations on the Vladivostok – Magadan short sea route.
