In the first quarter 2013 JSC Sea Port Saint-Petersburg has invested in environmental programs RUB 15.5 million ($467.433), the Company said on Tuesday.
The allocated funds were spent for wastewater treatment, maintenance of treatment facilities and monitoring of water quality.
The enterprise also controls generated wastes volume, places allocated for waste disposal and removal for further recycling.
JSC Sea Port Saint-Petersburg (part of the UCL Port, a stevedoring division of the international transportation group UCL Holding) is the largest operator, providing ranged services for handling of all types of dry bulk cargo in Big Port St. Petersburg. The company operates modern specialized terminals for handling Ro-Ro cargo, imported vehicles and metals. In 2012, cargo throughput of the company totaled 8.7 million tonnes.
