The project of a river port of "Marine Façade" based in St. Petersburg has passed all the necessary approvals and has permits of Glavgosexpertiza, the river port manager told PortNews
Gennady Dedkov, director of CJSC River Port Marine Façade said that the company has been in talks with some banks to raise financing for the project. He declined to disclose the volume of investment.
The construction of the port will take three years after obtaining the necessary funds.
The project envisages construction of eight piers to accommodate simultaneously eight vessels of "Meteor" class, including one combined pier for docking the Fontanka class ships.
At it final phase the port capacity will enable transportation of 1,600 passengers at a time.
The river port project in the operating passenger port "Marine Façade" was developed to handle a large number of passengers arriving in the city on cruise liners, bypassing congested road network.
