According to the Russia-24 TV channel coverage of a meeting devoted to civil shipbuilding development Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the transfer of Zvezda shipbuilding complex to a consortium of investors.
Mr. Puting emphasized that the consortium should include Russian state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) with Rosneft as an anchor investor and Gazprombank as a financial institution.
The meeting discussed an idea to add Khabarovsk and Amursky shipyards to the list of transferred shipbuilding assets. This idea was backed by the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, but Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and President of Rosneft Igor Sechin both were against such a plan.
In the end, it was decided to hand over to the consortium only Zvezda complex. The above shipbuilding firms will be awarded civil newbuilding contracts in cooperation with the Zvezda facility.
