The Coast Guard assisted four people after their sailing vessel ran aground in Lake Erie near Put-In-Bay, Ohio, early Saturday morning, the USCG said in a news release.
Upon receiving a distress call from the captain of a 32-foot sailing vessel at around 12:30 a.m., the SAR coordinator issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of a rescue boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Marblehead, Ohio. The rescue boatcrew, aboard a 33-foot Special Purpose Craft-Law Enforcement, arrived on scene with the distressed boaters shortly after 1 a.m.
The rescue boatcrew assisted the four boaters, three adults and 1 child, aboard the 33-foot SPC-LE at around 1:20 a.m., and transported them to Station Marblehead. Everyone was safe and sound.
Rescue Marine salvaged the sailing vessel at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Rescue Marine towed the vessel to Catawba Moorings in Port Clinton, Ohio.
