Coal shipments through the terminal of LLC Port Vysotsky in the eight-month period of the year totaled 3,156,622 tonnes, a 74% gain from the same period a year before, the terminal operator said.
In August 2013, the company handled 379,689 tonnes of Russian coal.
There are currently two terminal operators in Leningrad region based Port Vysotsk: LLC Port Vysotsky and LLC RPK-Vysotsk-Lukoil II. In 2011, cargo traffic at the port of Vysotsk totaled 13.42 million tonnes. In May 2012, the Russian government initiated expansion of the Vysotsk including it its boundaries adjacent waters and territory with facilities of a general cargo terminal under construction on Puteviy Cape. The terminal’s capacity is 3 million tonnes a year. In 2012, cargo shipments through the port of Vysotsk rose 2% year-over-year to 13,634,200 tonnes.
