Shipping company Volga Fleet Tanker (V.F. Tanker) on September 2, 2013 accepted delivery of “VF Tanker-21”, the eleventh Volga-Don Max tanker of RST27 project built at Okskaya Shipyard, the design developer Marine Engineering Bureau said.
The VF-21 Tanker is the twenty first tanker of RST27 design delivered in the 2012-2013 period from two shipbuilding contractors: Okskaya Shipyard and Krasnoye Sormovo. The ship’s projected 6980/5378 DWT was echanced by 50 tonnes to 7030/5428 DWT.
The new tanker of mixed river-sea sailings is the evolution of other projects of Odessa-based firm MEB and features increased river function (by 716dwt) . The hull form of Project RST27 Volga-Don-max tanker is a result of scientific research carried out in 2010 and was defined with the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD modeling and tested at the towage tank of CSRI of Academic A.N. Krylov. The double-sides and double-bottom hull ensures enhanced environmental safety. The vessel is of R2 class sailing region, or II region due to old RS classification.
The product, chemical tanker has six cargo and two slop tanks for transportation of crude oil and oil products with no flash point limits and vegetable oils. They have no longitudinal bulkhead in CL and no framing in cargo tanks. The series tankers have full revolving rudder propellers, increased trunk and submersible cargo pumps. The RST27 project was developed to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping KM Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker – Chemical tanker Type 2 (ESP).
The RST27 series tankers satisfy the dimensions of the Volga-Don Canal and Volga-Baltic Waterway. The vessel’s Sea / River DWT - 7030/5428; length overall - 140.85 m; Beam - 16.6 m; Depth - 6 m,
The design developer took into account the special requirements of Russian and international oil companies, additional environmental requirements of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) ECO-S class.
