Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) Q.J.S.C., the company with the mandate to export Qatar’s 10 million tonnes of chemicals and petrochemicals, especially polymers and fertilisers, to worldwide markets, announced today that it has chosen The Hague, the Netherlands as the location from which it will run Muntajat B.V., its international marketing company, the Port of Rotterdam reports.
The Doha-headquartered company, which was launched in the second half of 2012, holds exclusive rights to purchase, market, distribute and sell Qatar’s production of chemical and petrochemical regulated products to the global market.
Muntajat CEO Abdulrahman Ali Al-Abdulla. “As a country that is also a regional hub for energy and chemical products, the fit between Qatar and the Netherlands is logical. We look forward to opening our international marketing headquarters as the next step towards our ambition of becoming the leading marketer of chemicals and petrochemicals worldwide.” Muntajat B.V. will have approximately 100 employees across 26 offices serving more than 120 countries worldwide.
The NFIA introduced the company to the Dutch tax authorities in order to obtain clarity and certainty in advance on future tax positions, and made several trips to Doha to assist in the decision-making process. The Agency also facilitated conversations with the Port of Rotterdam. The WFIA helped identify options for the right office space and local service providers based on the company’s needs. The Port of Rotterdam already cooperates with the Port of Ras Laffan in Qatar.
