The Baltic Ports Conference 2013 was officially launched today September 5 in Klaipeda, Lithuania. The Conference is an associated event with BPO General Assembly, said the event organizer Baltic Port Organization.
The conference participants will address the challenges facing the Baltic ports in future market developments.
The conference was inaugurated by official speeches of representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, Klaipeda City and Klaipeda State Seaport Authority.
Mr. Dimitrios Theologitis from DG MOVE, European Commission will present the review of the EU port policy.
The second day of the event will be dedicated to environmental challenges for shipping and ports after 2015 – the date when the new sulfur limits for emission from shipping will be introduced in the Baltic. During the panel session invited experts will debate and look for answer on how ports should be prepared for new environmental challenges.
