The project of a deep water port in Kaliningrad has found an investor, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of the Kaliningrad region Alexei Klyuneyev said at the 5th Anniversary Baltic Transport Forum in Kaliningrad.
Klyuneyev declined to disclose the investor but added the name will be announced within a month.
The official said that the project feasibility study will be adjusted to take into account the interests of neighboring ports.
The deepwater port is one of the major infrastructure projects included in the State Program of social and economic development of the Kaliningrad region. The ice-free deep-water port able to give access and accommodate large tonnage vessels will be able to compete with its rivals on the Baltic Sea.
