Port Vanino acquires a package of handling equipment worth $22.5m

JSC Vanino Sea Commercial Port ("Port Vanino") will acquire on a previously signed lease agreement eight Mantsinen universal handling machines and seven Screen Machine and Parker Plant, mobile crushing and screening plants, and eight hydraulic front end loaders manufactured by Caterpillar Inc., the port operator said in a press release. The contract is valued at more than RUB 700 million (US$ 22,489m).

New handling equipment was acquired for trouble-free, smooth unloading of coal from rail cars, including in the winter season. The operator, who had previously purchased 7 similar machines, believes the Mantsien equipment will help boost coal throughput at unloading yards, increase storage capacity.  

The handling equipment delivery is scheduled for October this year.

The new equipment is purchased under the company’s fleet upgrade program intended for 2013. In recent years, this is a record deal for Vanino port in terms of the contract value and number of acquired equipment.

JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) is the major operator of the port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory). The port is a gateway for trade flows between Russia and Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. Vanino also handles imports shipped to the northern regions of Russia. Port Vanino operates quay wall of total length of about 2.5-km with three specialized cargo handling facilities.
