Stevedoring companies of Kaliningrad region are facing a container traffic decline due to reduced OEM components imports by Autotor plants, the PortNews correspondent reports.
For example, in 2013, Baltiyskaya Stevedoring Company planned handling of 200,000 TEUs versus 185,000 TEUs transshipped a year earlier. Overall, the operator is lagging behind schedule, with a 5% backlog, which was caused by a drop in OEM parts imports to AUTOTOR enterprises.
LLC Baltiyskaya Stevedoring Company (part of NCSP Group) operates a container terminal at the port of Baltiysk. The BSC’ Terminal is located in the deep, ice-free waters of the Baltic Sea. This is a good possibility for year-round shipping and cargo handling, with direct road transport connection with Kaliningrad significantly boosting the cargo delivery.
Currently, the AUTOTOR’s market share reaches 40% of container handling at Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port and 60% of the Baltic Sea Terminal.
