Port of Arkhangelsk operator’s eight-month cargo volumes down 8.3% to 987,000 tonnes

Cargo throughput at the terminals of JSC Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port in January-August 2013 fell 8.3% year-on-year and totaled 987,000 tonnes, the company said in a press release.

In the reporting period exports grew by 24.8% to 499,000 tonnes, imports fell 33%, to 62.5 million tonnes. Short sea traffic also declined to 378,300 tonnes,  down 28.4% on last year’s figure.

Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port JSC is a diversified stevedoring company operating at the Port of Arkhangelsk. The company handles primarily general cargoes, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metals, fertilizers, heavy-lift equipment and bulked cargoes.

Currently, the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) is conducting an auction for the sale of a state-owned 20% stake in the company. Suggested Opening Bid (SOB) of the stake is RUB 107 million, bid step – 2 million rubles. Submission of bids ended on September 2, 2013. The auction participants will be selected on September 6. The highest bidder will be announced on September 23, 2013.
