Crewmembers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Ocracoke repatriated 46 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Friday morning, the USCG said in a news release.
This repatriation was a result of three separate migrant interdiction cases.
On September 2, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West, Fla., received a report from an aircrew aboard an Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft of a rustic vessel south of Marathon, Fla., The Coast Guard Cutter Kodiak Island responded to the report and safely embarked 11 Cuban migrants.
Later in the day, the crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Bernard C. Webber detected, interdicted and safely embarked 18 Cuban migrants aboard a rustic vessel south of Marquesas Key, Fla.
On Wednesday, an aircrew aboard an Air Station Clearwater, Fla., HC-130 aircraft detected a rustic vessel south of Big Pine, Fla., and vectored in the Coast Guard Cutter Pea Island to interdict. The Pea Island arrived on scene and safely embarked 17 Cuban migrants.
The migrants were later transported to the Ocracoke for repatriation.
