In the afternoon of September 10th, an aluminium-cutting ceremony for the first vessel of 7×2000 Pax Urban Sprinter project was held at Afai Shipyard. The vessel is being constructed for the STATE of RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, the shipbuilder said in its press release.
Mr. Alexandre, the representative of ship owner pushed the button of CNC cutting machine to fire for cutting the plate. The project agent, representatives of BV, leaders of Afai as well as the team members jointly witnessed the cutting aluminum plate of the vessel.
The vessel is made of full aluminum alloy, with the overall length of 78.4m, beam of 14.8m, with completely symmetrical arrangement at the bow and stern, outfitted with two wheelhouses and four Azimut thrusters, can sail two-way without turning round, and with the designed passenger capacity of 2000. The maneuverability of this ship type is better than the similar vessels; the requirement for the quay facilities is lower; and the adaptability for the channel is stronger; the first six vessels of which are fueled by diesel fuel and the seventh vessel adopts dual-fuel. The delivery of this project in succession will promote the public traffic ability of the state of Rio greatly; can provide traffic convenience for the 2014 World Cup, 2016 Olympic Games and local residents.
