L&T Construction has won new orders worth` 1 793 crore s across various business segments in July, August and September 2013, said in the company's press release. The Metallurgical and Material Handling Business , a leading player in the sector has bagged new orders worth ` 550 crore s . The business secured a major order from Northern Coal Fields Limited , a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, for engineering, procurement and construction of a coal handling package at Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.
The segment also received a nother order for su pply and erection of 700 - l itre b ucket wheel excavators from the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited . Additional orders from various existing jobs have also been received. T he Power Transmission & Distribution Business has secured new orders worth ` 118 crore s from Power Grid Corporation of India. The orders ha ve been received for s upply, erection , testing and commissioning of tower package for 400 KV S/C & D/C transmission line at Kurnool and Nag apat t inam under the t ransmission system associated with Krishnapatnam Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPP) - Part C1 and design, enginee ring, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 400 KV Nagapattinam GIS Pooling station ( u pgradeable to 765KV ) under the common transmission system associated with Inter St ate Generator Station projects (ISGS) in Nagapat tinam and C uddalore area s of Tamil Nadu. Additional orders worth ` 1125 crores have also been received from various ongoing projects of Heavy Civil Infrastructure and Water & Renewable E nergy Businesses.
