Port of Los Angeles container traffic edges up 0.42% in August

Container throughput at the Port of Angeles in August climbed 0.43% to 709,675.75 TEUs, the Port of Los Angeles said in its monthly report.

The slight gain was achieved thanks to empty containers volume handled in August, which rose by 7.96% to 195,508.50 TEUs. On the contrary the monthly volume of loaded containers declined by 2.17% to 514,167.25 TEUs.

Shipments of export containers dropped by 3.84% to 158,484.50 TEUs, import containers edged down 1.41% to 355,682.75 TEUs.

Port of Los Angeles is the largest seaport of the United States. The Port encompasses 3.5 ha, 69km of waterfront and features 27 cargo terminals, including dry and liquid bulk, container breakbulk, automobile and omni facilities. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach form together the U.S. port complex, one of the world’s biggest hub.
