In January-August, 2013, the ports of China increased their throughput by 10.7%, year-on-year, to 7 bln t, says the Ministry of Transport of the Government of the People's Republic of China. In the accounting period seaports of China handled 4.8 bln t of cargo (+10.6%), river ports – 2.2 bln t (+10.7%).
Container throughput gained 8.2% to 124.5 mln TEUs including 111 mln TEUs in seaports (+8%) and 13.5 mln TEUs in river ports (+10.4%).
In 2012, throughput of Chinese ports climbed by 6.8% to 9.74 bln tonnes.
