Throughput of port Vyborg up 1% to 877,100 tonnes in Jan-Aug’13

In January-August 2013, port Vyborg handled 877,100 tonnes of cargo (+1%, year-on-year), says the press center of Big Port St. Petersburg.

In the reported period, transshipment of dry bulk cargo increased by 26% to 702,100 tonnes, transshipment of general cargo dropped by 81% to 53,900 tonnes, liquid bulk cargo – down 8% to 31,200 tonnes. Coal transshipment surged by 51% to 284,000 tonnes, mineral fertilizers– by 9% to 391,700 tonnes.

The port of Vyborg was founded in 1293 on the crossroads of waterways between the Gulf of Finland and the navigable system of the Saimaa lakes and the Vuoksa river. There are 13 berths in the port now (with total length of 1,480 running meters). They stretch along the coastline of the Vyborg Bay. In 2012, the port’s throughput increased by 33% to 1,462,400 tonnes.
