Euroports Germany continues to successfully handle post-panamax size agribulk volumes

Since August 2013, Euroports Getreide Service Rostock, Euroports’ agribulk terminal in the port of Rostock has welcomed its 2nd post-panamax vessel for loading operations, the Company said in a press release.

After successfully completing loading operations of 95.000 tons of barley in August, a record for the terminal and the port, a second vessel was entrusted to Euroports Germany to load 93.000 tons of barley for export to the Middle East. The terminal currently is the only port on the German side of the Baltic sea that can handle agribulk vessels of this size and draft.
Loading operations of the MV Paola were successfully completed on September 20th. Loading took 9 days, bringing the cargo from the terminal’s silo’s to the ship directly via conveyor belts.
After the successful completion of these operations, a third post-panamax vessel for loading of approximately 95.000 tons of barley has been announced. The MV Magsenger 8 is scheduled to arrive in Rostock at the end of September – Early October.

Karsten Lentz, Commercial Director of Euroports Germany, is proud of the achievement: “Euroports is committed to adding value for its customers. Larger vessels result in economies of scale for the traders and our Rostock facilities are the only port where they can achieve this competitive advantage. In addition, as we are gaining experience in handling these large agribulk cargo lots, the efficiency of our processes is growing as well, putting us in a unique position to offer short loading times and sharp rates to our clients”.
