The backlog of orders of Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will surge by 39.9% (in terms of value) to RUB 335.9 bln in 2013 against RUB 240.1 bln in 2012, IAA PortNews journalist cites Dmitry Mironenko, USC Vice President on Civil Shipbuilding, as saying at the International Exhibition NEVA-2013 held in Saint-Petersburg.
According to him, this year USC customers will accept vessels with total value of RUB 88.5 bln. The new contracts are valued at RUB 110.5 bln.
USC shipyards are currently busy with the construction of 75 civil vessels including 30 vessels for inland water ways, 21 marine facilities for offshore development, 8 icebreaking and scientific-research vessels, 16 engineering, state supervision and fishery inspection vessels.
According to Mironenko, the majority of orders will fall on 2016-2020.
