On 24 September 2013 within the frames of the NEVA 2013 International Exhibition, Sergey Sedov, Chief Executive Officer of classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and Sergey Baryshnikov, rector of the Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Sea and River Fleet (the University) signed an agreement on cooperation, RS announced.
RS considerable expertise in the development of rules, ship and offshore facilities survey under repair and in service as well as the achievements of the University as a leading educational and scientific centre of maritime industry will serve as the basis for cooperation between the classification society and the University. Nowadays, the brisk growth of the Russian shipbuilding industry demands high personnel qualifications. The interaction of the parties will make it possible to redefine the staff training giving due regard to vital national and international requirements.
To implement the agreement, it is planned to make the most use of both the parties’ personnel and technological resources: highly qualified RS and University experts are going to participate in the educational programs to be carried out by both the parties at the training and simulator centres in St Petersburg and at regional branches. Besides, RS and the University will join their efforts in research and development work.
