ClassNK inks cooperation agreement with Indonesian classification society BKI

Leading classification society ClassNK (Chairman and President: Noboru Ueda) announced that it has entered into a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Indonesian classification society PT. Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) (BKI) on Thursday 26 September 2013, the ClassNK' press release said.

Up until now, ClassNK and BKI have entered into agreements regarding the survey of ships, and have been working together for over 40 years. This new agreement was created to establish an even closer level of cooperation between ClassNK and BKI for the development of the Indonesian maritime industry.

This agreement will allow for cooperation on joint technical research (ship, offshore, renewable energy etc.), rule development, as well as the education and training of surveyors. The agreement will also allow for even greater technical and personal exchange between the two societies.

The agreement was signed by BKI President Director Ibnu Wibowo and ClassNK Chairman and President Noboru Ueda at a signing ceremony held on 26 September 2013. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ueda said: “BKI and ClassNK have enjoyed a long and excellent relationship for many years now, and I believe that the conclusion of this Agreement today will build even stronger ties between the two societies in the future. We promise to dedicate ourselves to supporting the ongoing growth and development of BKI and its activities, and help secure greater success for Indonesia’s maritime community over the many years to come.”
