On 18th Sep, the first navigation of the world’s largest container ship—“MARY MAERSK” stopped at Qingdao Port, the ultra-large light-weight quayside crane manufactured by ZPMC completed unloading successfully, the Company said in a press release.
The ship, with the advanced technology, is 18000 TEU ship newly in service. The total tonnage is over 190,000 tons, with 400 meters length, 59 meters width and 73 meters height. The open deck can put 23 column containers, which makes higher requirements on performance and efficiency of loading/unloading equipments. ZPMC specially developed the new type crane with excellent performance in loading/unloading large container ships, reducing weight in design and remote control. Qingdao Port is the first user of the new type crane.
The crane is designed for 18000 TEU ultra-large ship tailored, with a front outreach of 70m and lifting height of 49m. By optimizing design, the crane becomes larger, while the weight is lighter. The batch of cranes firstly is equipped with remote control system researched and developed by ZPMC. Drive can seat in the central control room to operate computer instead of seating in the cab of crane girder. A driver can control several cranes, which changes the traditional operation way of “one driver one crane”. The work condition is quite and comfortable, besides, the labor cost of port also plummets.
The success R&D of ultra-large crane provides the ports home and abroad with strong equipment support and is welcomed by market.
